How To Get A Sword Destiny

Sep 16, 2016  This article will show you how to unlock the sword in Destiny: The Taken king. This requires that you complete a quest from Eris Morn called, A Broken Will. Before you can do that, however, there are certain requirements that must be met. We’ll explain them all, getting you through this quest in about 30 minutes. Part 2: A Sword Reforged. Upgrade your Legendary Sword to 280 Attack through the use of Infuse, unlocking a 5th perk. Return to Lord Shaxx and begin the quest. The Worldline Zero Exotic Sword in Destiny 2 is a new Exotic weapon that arrived with the Warmind DLC. Getting it is no easy task, but the return of an Exotic Sword is welcome, so of course plenty.

Swords are a new Heavy Weapon class in Destiny’s third expansion pack, The Taken King. These weapons can inflict massive damage on other players in the Crucible and on monsters out in the open universe. They’re best suited to players who prefer to get up-close and personal with their targets and require absolutely no ammo. You can swing them as often as you like.

Getting an Exotic Sword takes quite a bit of work and requires that you complete the quest called “A Sword Reforging.” This article will serve as a guide on how to do just that.

Firstly, to begin the questline, you’ll first need to complete the main storyline in The Taken King and unlock Dreadnaught Patrol by completing the quest “Dread Patrol.” You can also unlock the quest by finding the first Calcified Fragment in the expansion’s first story mission, “The Coming War.”

Part 1: A Broken Will

1. Go to the Tower and speak to Eris Morn, who will provide you with the quest.

2. Speak to Lord Shaxx

3. Acquire 25 Hadium Flakes and 10 Motes of Light and give them to Lord Shaxx.

You can find Hadium Flakes in chests on Dreadnaught Patrol. Eris will also provide you with Hadium Flakes each time your reputation with her ranks up.

4. Choose one of three swords as your reward:

Arc Edge – 25 Spinmetal

Sol Edge – 25 Helium Filaments

Void Edge – 25 Relic Iron

Important: Keep in mind that the sword you choose will also determine the element of your Exotic Sword later on.

Part 2: A Sword Reforged

1. Upgrade your Legendary Sword to 280 Attack through the use of Infuse, unlocking a 5th perk.

2. Return to Lord Shaxx and begin the quest.

3. Kill 50 Majors and 25 players in the Crucible with your sword.

Majors are enemies with yellow health bars. To complete this part of the quest, just do some low-level Strikes on easy mode. Finding them out in the wild can be a real pain.

Ultras have a yellow health bar with skull icons. Killing them will also count towards the completion of this quest.

Swords can kill Crucible players in a single hit, provided you have Heavy Ammo. Otherwise, they do as much damage as a regular melee strike.

4. Kill Ecthar, Sword of Oryx in Dreadnaught Patrol. He’s located in the Asylum.

Ecthar is a level 42 hive ultra. He’s tough. Make sure you’re well equipped before facing him down.

Go to “The Founts” area in Dreadnaught Patrol, which is through the Cabal ship.

Enter the first pit, make your way over to the middle room and look for three Warden Knights that have different elemental shields.

Weaken all three of them until they have low health and kill them in rapid succession (under 5 seconds)—or simultaneously. Use your Super for this. Better yet, bring a friend or two.

If the door doesn’t open backtrack to the previous named zone and return after a short period of time—they will respawn.

If you do it right, a door will open, gaining you entry into the Asylum.

Kill everything. Ecthar, Sword of Orxy will spawn. He will only take damage from your sword, so hack him to death.

5. Return to Lord Shaxx in the Tower.

Part 3: A Sword Reforged (Exotic)

If you thought the previous steps were difficult, the next part will require a bit of patience and a lot of grinding.

1. You’ll need to 500 ability kills depending on the element of the weapon you chose and gather 10 rare materials relating to your weapon of choice. Ability kills are grenade attacks, melee strikes, and supers.

Arc Edge – Get 500 arc ability kills

  • A simple task for Stormcallers and Bladedancers. Strikers will have a harder time with this due to their restrictive super.

Sol Edge – Get 500 solar ability kills

  • Sunbreakers and Gunslingers will get this done in no time. Sunsingers will have to rely on their grenades and melee attacks only.

Void Edge – Get 500 void ability kills

  • The most difficult of the three to level up. Defenders are limited to using their melee and grenade attacks.

“Rare” materials have a drop rate of ~10% per harvest. You’ll need to harvest at least 100 material nodes to get what you need while on Patrol. Just like old times.

Chests will not supply you with “Rare” materials.

2. Return to Lord Shaxx.

3. Wait for some alloys to arrive on Armsday, which takes place every Wednesday.

4. Talk to Lord Shaxx and deliver the goods he requested.

How To Get Exotic Sword Destiny

5. No one’s actually done this yet, but dataminers who sifted through the game’s data discovered that players must defeat both Adleg, Warden of Oryx and Alak-Hul, the Darkblade under 30 seconds. You can find them in the Strike.

6. Enjoy your weapon!

Destiny: The Taken King added several new weapons and gear options. One of this is a Sword heavy weapon. This is a unique weapon that requires a quest, so you won't get these from random drops.

I'll go over everything you need to do to get your legendary sword and what is required for the exotic. Please visit my Taken King Beginner Tips and Tricks for more help with the game.

This guide will go over everything about the sword heavy weapon in The Taken King including:

  • Forging the Legendary Sword - What you need to start the quest and tips on completing it.
  • Forging the Exotic Sword - What you need to start the quest and info on completing it.

Forging the Legendary Sword

The first thing you need to do is complete all the main Taken King quests.

When you do this, you'll get a quest called 'Dread Patrol.' This is a mission that unlocks patrol for the Dreadnaught.

After you turn it in, Eris will have a mission called 'A Broken Will.'

  • Talk to Lord Shaxx, he is close to Eris and sells Crucible armor.
  • Collect 25 Hadium Flakes and 10 Motes of Light.

You can only collect Hadium Flakes by opening chests on the Dreadnaught. If you get to rank 5 for Eris, she gives you 12 Hadium Flakes.

The best way to collect them is to go to the Mausoleum area on the Dreadnaught and look all around. There will be a few outside and several in the rooms.

How To Get A Sword In Destiny Taken King

Once you have the materials return to Lord Shaxx.

  • You will not get a notification that the quest is complete, just talk to him.
  • Choose which element sword you want.
    • This may determine your exotic sword so go to Destinydb to look at the perks of each exotic before choosing.

Forging the Exotic Sword

The exotic sword is an upgrade of your legendary sword, so you can't have both.

How

To unlock the exotic quest, you must:

  1. Fully upgrade your sword.
  2. Infuse it to 280 or higher attack.

After that, a 5th upgrade will show up on the sword. Get this to unlock the quest.

  • Talk to Lord Shaxx
  • Once you have 'A Sword Reforged' quest, you must kill 50 majors and 25 players in the crucible.
    • Majors are the enemies with yellow health bars.
    • You can also kill players with the sword hilt when you don't have heavy ammo.
  • Go to Dreadnaught Patrol and kill Ecthar, Sword of Oryx.
  1. Go to the Fount area. This is the farthest exit on the left in the Mausoleum if you come from the Cabal ship.
  2. Drop down the first hole and go around until you reach the middle room.
  3. There are 3 Warden Knights with elemental shields in the back you must kill all 3 at once with a super.
  4. A door will open to the Asylum. Kill everyone until Ecthar comes out.
  5. You can only damage his shield with your sword. Once the shield is down you can use anything to damage him.
  • Then, go back to Lord Shaxx to turn in.
  • After that, you get the last quest.

    • Talk to Lord Shaxx.
    • You must collect 10 rare materials. The element you picked determines where you must collect them from.
      • Arc is spinmetal
      • Void is Relic Iron
      • Solar is Helium Filaments
    • The only way to get the rare materials is to collect from the nodes. Chests won't give them.
    • The drop rate is very low so expect to do this for a long time.

You also need ability kills (super, grenades, melee) for the element fo your sword.

    • Once you have them all, return to Lord Shaxx.
    • You must wait for the next Armsday delivery, which is on Wednesdays.

The last step is do a special version of the Darkblade strike. Once you pass the Armsday step, the strike opens on the Dreadnaught. It is a 300 light version of Darkblade and it has matchmaking.

    Destiny Sword Quest

The strike is straightforward, the only change is at the end.

How To Get Goldtusk Sword Destiny 2

    • After Alak-hul, The Darkblade, spawns, 3 wardens will spawn one at a time.
      • These knights have a different elemental shield.
    • To complete the mission, you must kill the knight with the same elemental shield as the sword you get from the quest, then Darkblade within 30 seconds.
      • It is very important to kill the knight before Darkblade.

Just damage Darkblade until his health is very low, kill the knight you need for the quest, then quickly kill Darkblade within 30 seconds.

The strike has matchmaking, but it is much easier to go in there with people who all need the same exotic sword. This allows you to kill two of the knights and only leave one up.

You can do this on all characters so you can get all 3 elements if you want, you also keep your legendary sword.
