Gameplay and premise[edit]

The Wizard Of Oz Game

In this video game adaptation of The Wizard of Oz, Dorthy finds herself traveling in never-before-seen locations. These include Shy Village, Gamboge Gorge, Maize Meadow, Saffron Fields, Xanthin Farms, Citron City, The Red Country, and Cinnabar City. It also includes many of the stages set in the 1990 Wizard of Ozanimated series by DIC Entertainment,[2] with the exception of the Emerald City and the poppy fields.

Dorothy can kick, shoot with Glinda's wand (and she is the only one who can shoot stars and bubbles), and jump. She's trying to see the Wizard of Oz so he can send her home, and she also wants to get Toto back from the Wicked Witch of the West. The Scarecrow is the most vulnerable and lightest member of the party. He can jump and shoot gems, and attack with a pitchfork. If he gets too close to crows, they fly away; furthermore, if he touches fire, he is defeated immediately. He's the second character you get. The Tin Man is the toughest character, but also the heaviest, so he can't jump. He can still shoot gems, kick, and attack with his axe. He's the third character you get. The Cowardly Lion is cowardly, and almost as good as Dorothy. He can jump, throw gems, and attack with his paws. He can also climb trees. He is the fourth and final character you receive.

The Wizard Of Oz Game Over

At the end of the game, after defeating the Wicked Witch of the West, they confront the Wizard. He informs Dorothy she has used up all the power in her shoes but he will still send her home. She floats away back to Kansas, with Toto, in the Wizard's balloon.
